The visual style and sidescrolling nature of the game reminds me of the original SNES Clock Tower in all of the best ways, while Mr Hopps is a genuinely freaky adversary that had more than a handful of surprises up his sleeve for me, spooking me quite effectively in a lot of places! And let me say, I REALLY appreciate that you had the forethought to give the player checkpoints between finding tapes - so many games send you on these scavenger hunts that I am not usually a fan of, just to kill you and make you do the whole thing again. This was MUCH more managable and thus far more enjoyable than frustrating.
If I have to touch down on anything, there are times where Mr. Hopps' stalking takes entirely too long. There were many times I sat around behind the couch in the living room for up to 30-60 seconds because he frankly just refused to leave, and you had no way of knowing if he'd immediately turn back around whenever he walked off screen. Maybe give him some more patrol-esque movement patterns to alleviate this.
And of course, as you can see in this playthrough (and I dunno if you fixed this - I downloaded this on day one and played it later), there is a pretty bad bug by the end where dying at all makes your gun refuse to work on subsequent attempts until you exit to the main menu and come back. Could easily throw folks very far off.
But either way - this is excellent. Music, design, scare style, space between scares and objectives - great stuff. So well done. I loved playing this.
I have questions! A) Are there multiple endings? B) Did I get the good ending?
C) Hopefully I'm past where everyone can see without expanding the comment, but is Mr. Hopp real, or did I kill my parents? I know what the tapes say, but did Mr. Hopp maybe possess Ruby and use her, or is he literally walking around?

I leave this up to the player's view honestly, so many different perspectives have been put forward and it's pretty amazing. It's whatever makes the most sense to you. ;)
A great game indeed! A good amount of jumpscares and the atmosphere is very intense. With patience and quick timing, you can accomplish the whole game without dying (I died a few times though xD). This game literally scared the crap out of me and I loved it (and hate it too)! Such a good game for a 2d pixel game. So glad I didn't overlook this game! The story within the game wasn't as bad either. I would like it if the text in the beginning were to be slowed down a bit so I can read it. Other than that, AWESOME GAME! Thanks so much! Keep up the good work!
Loved loved loved this game, even if it was frustrating at times. The constant threat of Mr Hopps was great, the deaths/scares were perfect, and the ending was stressful. I played this as the last game in my 3 horror games video and had a blast!
This game was quite interesting, giving me major Clock Tower vibes, only with better controls (keyboard instead of clicking with mouse) and a more unique kind of gameplay.
Very, very good game with lots of effort and care. If I have any criticism at all, it would be that the AI patrols require the player to wait a little too long. Otherwise, a cool and stylish little horror title.

It's not the biggest issue, but I found that if you press forward then try to go down in one motion, like forward to down, you'll keep on walking. I got used to it, but I'd assume it's a bug.
This... seems like one of my nightmare as a kid. When you are alone and your imagination just gone out of wack. Multiple endings are in this game. I think there are 3, but I only managed to find two so far. It's pixel creepy at it's finest! Definitely give this game a try.
The game's fairly interesting to say the least. But I found that after you get the hang of just avoiding the monster, the horror really wore off. I'd personally suggest a surprise grab that happens every so often. But that's just me.

I played the game, beat it after 2 hours, recorded it, and have to edit it. In case I change my mind, I loved this game. It was scary and fun.
Good game but my gun wouldn't shoot at the end. Overall I thought it was good. Would definitely like to see more Mr. Hopp in the future.

Really nice game. I unfortunately didn't have time to finish it, but it was fantastic.

Some kind of weird bug screwed me of all my progress and made it so I could no longer shoot the gun at the end, pretty frustrating
I got the same bug after getting grabbed, I went to main menu and back and it worked again. At least for me
